After a 3-week residency at Espace Magnan, the Compagnie de lโEcrin will present its new gem this Saturday, November 10, 2012, at 8 PM. Ahimsa or the little love beggar, a Franco-Indian puppet tale (Puppets, Dance, Music).
This project was born out of meetings and friendship, unique knowledge, and intercultural sharing.
Ahimsa means Non-violence in Hindi. Who other than Gandhi, who initiated the concept, could speak about it with such conviction?
By perpetuating his philosophy through this creation, with the exchange of the two Franco-Indian cultures, it reminds us that violence solves nothing.
The story of Ahimsa and Anandita, these two children living in Delhi, tells us how important love is. Accompanied by traditional instruments (Rishab Prasanna, bansuri and Davy Sur, percussion), puppets from Rajasthan and contemporary ones (Lala Bhaat, Sabrina Anastasio, Leรฏla Paris), and Indian dance (choreography: Marilyn Bernard), this poetic show offers moments of emotion and tenderness, beauty and hope surrounded by colorful characters.
The staging (Isabelle Servol) unfolds in a flow of fabrics and colorful scenography (Emilie Camatte) painted on suitcases that take us on a journey through the rhythms of India’s atmospheres.
