Prom’Classic: a record turnout

Latest News

A true human tide on the Promenade des Anglais yesterday morning for the 17th Prom’Classic. Victory in the men’s race went to Yohan Durand, and in the women’s race, it was Fanny Pruvost who came out on top.

10,000 runners at the starting line

You couldn’t afford to be late yesterday morning on the Promenade des Anglais. At precisely 10 o’clock, under a bright sun, nearly 10,000 people set off for a 10 km run.

In 2001, for its first edition, 950 bibs were distributed. A great success for the organization and for the city, as this race is a qualifier for the French championships.

Yoan Durand in charge, Fanny Pruvost finally makes it

Spectators were treated to a great race. It was the least they could expect on a Sunday morning. All the weather conditions were ideal: sunshine, mild temperature for the season, and almost no wind. As a gentleman, let’s start with the women.

A regular at the event came out victorious. For her ninth participation and after multiple podium finishes, Fanny Pruvost finally made it. She finished with a time of 33’15. Her runner-up, Martha Komu, was nearly a minute behind. The podium was completed by Morcelli Patricia with a time of 34’14.

Now let’s move on to the men. Leading the race throughout, Yoan Durand was the master of this edition. He completed the 10 km in 28’57, twenty seconds off the course record.

His main rival, Hassan Chahdi, faltered in the last few meters and finished 4 seconds behind the winner. Another disappointment for Chahdi as he again placed second, just like last year. The podium was completed by Pierre Le Corre. A great performance for this triathlete.

It should be noted that Christian Estrosi, the deputy mayor of Nice, also participated in the race. He finished with a time of 54 minutes.

Next up for running enthusiasts is the international Nice half-marathon on April 23 and 24.
