From April 20 to May 2, the Antibes Fair opens its doors for the 47th edition at Port Vauban. It is the most important fair for antiques, contemporary art, and modern art in France after the one in Paris. It welcomes an average of 20,000 visitors.
This year, the Antibes Fair brings together 90 exhibitors presenting works of great value, but also unusual objects from all eras. Within a large central tent, several aisles intersect, allowing visitors to discover various types of art professionals. Antique dealers, photographers, and illustrators offer a range of paintings, old or contemporary furniture, photographs, and even rugs.
Some stands offer the chance to admire original works by great names in the history of art, such as Botero or Buffet. Others offer unusual experiences, like the possibility to print a photograph of your eye, revealing the unique features of each iris and pupil.
The fair spans all of history, encompassing Egyptology, modern art, decorative art, and contemporary art. The exhibitors are often enthusiasts who manage to acquire unique pieces (via auctions, private collectors, etc.) to resell to collectors or simply to art lovers. You will also meet artists here to highlight their worlds and creations.
This year, the duration of the fair has been reduced, and the number of exhibitors limited (90 compared to 115), to place more emphasis on the quality of the works exhibited.
