Italy is preparing to reopen its borders with the rest of Europe. According to the Dpcm (decree of the President of the Council of Ministers), starting from June 3, entry into Italy will be allowed from European Union countries, the Schengen area including Switzerland and Monaco.

For those crossing the borders, the mandatory 14-day quarantine with isolation will no longer be enforced.

This measure aims to boost the flow of tourists in anticipation of the summer.

On the other hand, the European Commission is itself coordinating the reopening of borders of all EU partners. The ECDC, the EU agency for diseases, will map the European territory and block the flow of travelers between areas with high infection rates.

Other European partners are also expected to open their borders on June 3 following Brussels’ recommendations. However, all external European borders, meaning with the rest of the world, will remain closed at least until June 15.

In the middle of next month, the European Commission will decide whether to lift or extend the blockade.
