Matignon announced it through a press release several weeks ago: the public inquiry regarding the future high-speed line between Marseille and Nice begins this morning.
During this inquiry, open until February 28th, the public will be able to give their opinion, but also suggest comments on the points that will be presented, namely, the first two phases of the new Provence Cรดte d’Azur line (LNPCA).
The first two phases of the project (there will be four in total) involve the creation of the TGV station at Nice airport, with four platform tracks, as well as improvements to the Toulon RER and the redevelopment of the Marseille Saint Charles station complex (phase 1).
Phase 2, meanwhile, will concern the developments between Cannes and Nice, as well as an underground railway line in Marseille.
The work for phase 1 is expected to begin in 2023 for commissioning in 2030, while phase 2 will not start before 2027, with a commissioning target of 2035.
The combined cost of phases 1 and 2 is estimated at 3.5 billion euros and will be partially funded by the State, local authorities, and Europe.
As a reminder, this future line will allow for improved traffic in the region.
