Since May 5 and until the 27th of the same month, an exhibition titled “A propos de Nice,” dedicated to the Nice art scene of the 1960s-70s and produced by MAMAC, is being featured at the “French May of Hong Kong,” the emblematic event of the major Chinese city and one of the biggest cultural events in Asia, attracting over 1 million visitors annually.
The exhibition “A propos de Nice. 1947-1977,” organized last summer by MAMAC as part of the biennial “Nice 2017. Ecole(s) de Nice,” led by Jean-Jacques Aillagon, under the title “School of Nice โ From Pop Art to Happenings,” will allow the international and Asian public of the Hong Kong City Hall to discover a hundred major works from the Nice artistic adventure.
For this occasion, MAMAC has gathered over 100 works, films, and documents from private and public collections (National Center for Visual Arts, Jean Ferrero Collection, etc.) and artists’ studios.
The exhibition documents the last major post-war artistic movement in France and showcases its extraordinary contribution to the art history of the 1960s-1970s. The MAMAC exhibition, titled “School of Nice from Pop Art to Happenings,” will be the flagship event of the French May in the visual arts domain.
