With the participation of Andrea Bocelli

In 16th century Scotland, a fierce hatred consumes the Ashton and Ravenswood clans. Lucia and Edgardo, although from these two rival clans, are passionately in love and pledge to marry. However, a series of machinations, deceptions, and lies lead Lucia to believe that her lover is unfaithful.
Resigned, manipulated by her own brother, she agrees to marry a man chosen by this unscrupulous brother. But Lucia loses her sanity and brutally stabs the husband she hates during their wedding, and in her madness, she relives her happiness. Edgardo takes his own life.
With Czech soprano Zuzana Marková (Lucia), the Genoa Opera House offers her a role in line with her vocal capabilities. Free from the constraints and challenges previously assumed, the soprano embarks on a breathtaking “Spargi d’amaro pianto…” with superbly mastered trills.

It was tenor Andrea Bocelli (Edgardo) who captured attention with his beautiful “Sulla tomba che rinserra…”. It had to be heard in the final scene when he learns of Lucia’s passing. Starting mezza-voce, a heartbreaking call to his lost love, without pathos, having only the intense truth of her disappearance, the Italian tenor reveals himself as a formidable Edgardo. An exceptional artist!
