The organizers invite the people of Nice to gather in large numbers around an ambitious goal: to collect 65,000 euros for the benefit of sick or disadvantaged children of the French Riviera. Meet us from Wednesday, May 10 at 2 PM to Sunday, May 14 at 4 PM, on the Quai des รtats-Unis.
Walk, jog, run, no matter the speed, in this race only the kilometers count. This 5th edition of the sports and charity event is organized on the same principle as the previous ones. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their level or age. โItโs a generationally inclusive event that has, in 5 years, become the most important charity race in the region.โ
Each kilometer covered is worth one euro in donations. This year, the organizers are thinking even bigger. The goal is to gather 5,000 participants so they can cover 65,000 kilometers to raise 65,000 euros. This sum is intended to finance projects for sick or disadvantaged children on the Cรดte dโAzur.
How does it work?
The kilometers are counted thanks to a magnetic chip provided by the organization to each participant for the duration of the event. It is given to each registered participant at the reception of the circuit. A predefined and supervised loop of nearly 1,000 meters is in place. Accessible 24/7, continuously, each runner is free to participate whenever they want. This flexibility is designed to gather the necessary crowd for meeting this new challenge. During the five days of the race, refreshment points are planned.
Registrations are open since March 3, but don’t worry, you still have until May 8 to sign up online. Otherwise, head directly to the venue from May 10, 2 PM. The registration cost is between 16 and 25 euros. Discounted rates are available for young people and students. Pets are allowed.
A Helping Hand from Champions
A race within the race will take place. 20 ultra-runners will be on the circuit for the 5 days, determined to break records and take the podium.
Two champions are the ambassadors of this 2023 edition. They are Morgane Ausello from Nice Cรดte dโAzur Athlรฉtisme, and Marina Correia, a 23-year-old Cape Verdean who has been living in Nice since her teenage years. With their respective titles of French champion of 24-hour race walking and world champion of longboard dancing, they are committed to putting their talent to good use for the cause.
Since 2018, more than 13,500 runners and walkers have traveled more than 223,000 km. The 54,655 euros raised last year thanks to the 3,142 registered participants helped set up various projects like the creation of the Snoezelen multisensory room or the purchase of a push bike for children and adolescents with multiple disabilities.
