Co-organized by “Le Club Nautique” and “Le Club de la Mer”, this grand nautical parade aims to support Paris’s bid for the 2024 Olympics.
The city of light’s bid is the favorite, but must face competition from Los Angeles. Athletes and the public of Nice are rallying in support.
The IOC’s final decision will be made on September 13th at the Lima summit.
The project, presented to the National Council for the Development of Sport (CNDS), was chosen among the many initiatives proposed by local sports associations.
Over 80 boats started the event this evening, around 5 PM. Among them were kayaks, rowing boats, catamarans, sailboats, and even optimists. About 200 athletes were mobilized for the occasion.
The goal of the day: to depart from the dock of the yacht club in LโAigle (50 Boulevard Franck Pilate in Nice) and head towards the opera for a return to the starting point around 6 PM โ 6:30 PM. A comforting aperitif awaits them there.
The flotilla, which does not go unnoticed along the Port of Nice, supports the 2024 Olympic Games, and the bid of Paris.
The club will even have two representatives during this competition. The hopes of a city rest on รlodie RAVERA in rowing, as well as her brother Romain, a great hope for CNN in the same discipline.
All vessels are invited to participate. At least, those that registered before June 17th. The parade will be guided by true navigation specialists. Notably, Jean-Pierre Dick and Elodie Rovera.
Elodie Rovera is the French double rowing champion of 2017, and she is also a finalist of the Rio 2016 Olympics.
For the occasion, Eric Ciotti, just re-elected in his district, was present. He took the opportunity to give a small speech.
During this, he stated, “It is a real joy to be here tonight by your side, in this iconic club located on the port of Nice.
The Department of Alpes-Maritimes, which I have the honor of presiding over, has always supported the club.”
He then thanked the yacht club for its commitment to young people and those with disabilities. Finally, he sincerely congratulated the participants for this day of mobilization aimed at supporting Paris’s bid for the organization of the 2024 Summer Olympics.
