Critical conscience of the tunnel on Line 2, advisor to the candidate from the right-wing civic list led by Olivier Bettati in the 2014 municipal elections, and himself a candidate in the 2017 legislative elections, geologist Eric Gilli returns to tackle this issue through an โopenโ letter addressed to the Prefect of Alpes-Maritimes in his capacity as the guarantor of public safety.
In this letter, Professor Gilli alerts the state representative to the potential danger following the significant collapse related to the tunneling work for the Nice tramway that occurred the day before yesterday.
After a lengthy technical argument contrasting with official statements and proposing possible hypotheses about the cause of this incident (and others before it), Professor Gilli calls for a technical assessment:
โIt therefore seems necessary to conduct a study to verify that the company’s actions are suitable for addressing these issues and ensuring the long-term stability of this structure and the safety of its users.โ
The ball is in the court of the prefectural authority, which can either act on or ignore this
complaint, but it should โbe seriously considered as it questions the stability of this structure for the years to come.โ
In such cases, transparency is a must.
