This Sunday, November 3, 2024, the Alpes-Maritimes Marathon, connecting Nice to Cannes, will result in significant traffic and parking restrictions in Nice. Here are the main affected routes to help you navigate.
Nice City Center
The city center streets will be partially closed starting at 3 a.m. Until 12 p.m., traffic will be prohibited on the Promenade des Anglais (south roadway) between Rue Honoré Sauvan and Avenue Max Gallo, as well as on the north roadway from Avenue Max Gallo to Boulevard Gambetta. Several adjacent streets will also be impacted, including Bréa, Van Loo, and Milton Robbins streets. Specific restrictions will also affect Avenue Félix Faure, Place Masséna, and the surrounding areas.
Some perpendicular roads to the Promenade des Anglais, between Boulevard Gambetta and Avenue Max Gallo, will be closed off, but residents will have access via interior roads.
Promenade des Anglais and Surroundings
Between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m., traffic will be prohibited on the Promenade des Anglais between Avenue des Grenouillères and Rue Honoré Sauvan for the south roadway, and between Boulevard Gambetta and Avenue des Grenouillères for the north roadway. The Magnan Tunnel and Carras Port will also be closed. Perpendicular accesses to the Promenade in this area will be closed with access for residents.
Nice West and Airport Access
For those heading to the Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, it’s important to note that access will be disrupted between 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Promenade Corniglion Molinier and Avenue des Grenouillères will be closed, limiting access to Terminal 1 and Napoleon III Bridge. Exit ramps will also be closed, making traffic around the airport difficult. It is recommended to plan an alternative route or to start your journey earlier to avoid delays.
Closure of Bicycle Lanes
Cyclists should note that several bicycle lanes will be closed from 3 a.m. to 12 p.m., including those on Avenue de Verdun and the Promenade des Anglais between Rue du Congrès and Avenue Max Gallo. The Quai des États-Unis will also be affected.
