The 17th edition of the Alpes-Maritimes Nice-Cannes marathon was held this Sunday morning, between the Promenade des Anglais and the Croisette. The pace was set from the first kilometers. The leading group, comprised of Kenyan runners, quickly widened the gap.
At the finish line, Dickson Kiprop crossed in 2h13โ€™29โ€™โ€™, ahead of Rugut Kipchumba (2h15โ€™16โ€™โ€™) and Moses Kimulwo (2h17โ€™37โ€™โ€™). The three Kenyan athletes secured a sweep for this 2025 edition.

The first French runner, Laurent Yardin (Vannes Athlรฉtisme), finished 4th in 2h21โ€™33โ€™โ€™, achieving his personal best in the process. Behind him, Mexican Teo Ellena took 5th place (2h25โ€™59โ€™โ€™), followed by Florian Haurais (2h30โ€™15โ€™โ€™) and Tom Pasquier (2h33โ€™19โ€™โ€™).

Races for All Levels

The Nice-Cannes marathon once again offered participants a unique setting. The 42.195 km course runs along the Mediterranean and goes through several iconic towns: Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Villeneuve-Loubet, Antibes-Juan-les-Pins, and Golfe-Juan, before finishing on the Croisette, in front of the steps of the Palais des Festivals.

The start was given at 8 am on the Promenade des Anglais, in a calm and fresh atmosphere. The conditions were ideal, with a starting temperature of about 13 ยฐC, bright sunshine, and a light sea breeze.

The main event remained the individual marathon, reserved for runners born in 2006 or earlier. However, the event also offered collective formats: the Duo Marathon, where two participants split the distance, and the Team Relay, open to all levels. These formats allowed many amateurs to experience the race at their own pace, in a relaxed atmosphere. This year, the duo marathon was won by “Les Perruches,” while the relay marathon highlighted the team “Tennismens.”

This variety of events is made possible thanks to the 1,200 volunteers present along the entire course, and the moderate elevation of approximately 70 meters to climb and descend, making the race accessible, while still offering some more demanding sections after Antibes.

The Nice-Cannes marathon remains the second-largest marathon in France in terms of participants, just behind Paris. Its route, between the sea and hills, makes it a favorite event for both amateur and experienced French and international runners.

The next edition is already anticipated next year, with many hoping to return once more to run between the sea and palm trees. Organizers are already inviting participants this Thursday, November 13 for registration opening at 11 am on their website.
