“It is important to be here for all of our communities. Behind the festive movement that we know how to represent so well, there is a reality that is sometimes much less joyful and we must do everything to defend our rights.” Maxime Briziarelli, President of the Aglae association, is preparing for this new Pink Parade, which his association has been organizing for 5 years. Other associations had arranged to participate in the event and, in the crowd, one could see the banners of Polychromes, Entre’L, Cados and Madmoizelles united to defend the rights of gays and lesbians on the Côte d’Azur.
The procession could get underway between the colorful floats playing electronic rhythms that made a large part of the demonstrators dance. Smiles, kisses and hugs were on the agenda set by Aglae and all these good people could stroll through the streets of Nice before meeting on the arts esplanade for a well-deserved friendship drink.
“Two women holding hands” it seems that this no longer offends morality and that this gesture no longer needs to be done under the table. Proof was given on Saturday in Nice, in the sunshine exactly!
