It is Spain that triumphs at the 12th edition of the “Monte-Carlo Film Festival de la Comédie”. Peter Chelsom, best director for “Hector and the Search for Happiness”.

The awards were presented during a Gala evening that took place at the Rainier III Auditorium.

“Carmina y amén”, a delightful Iberian black comedy by Paco León, is the best film of the 2015 edition of the Monte-Carlo Film Festival de la Comédie. The decision was made by the jury presided over by Giovanni Veronesi, and composed of Claude Zidi, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Yllka Mujo, Lee Marshall.

The award for best director is given to Peter Chelsom for his film “Hector and the Search for Happiness”, a pleasing portrayal of a psychoanalyst living in London who embarks from a bleak and dreary life on a journey from Shanghai to Africa, and then to Los Angeles, in search of happiness.

The best actors are Hector Noguera and Nestor Guzzini, fabulous performers of “Mr Kaplan” by Alvaro Brechner.

The best actress is the phenomenal Carmina Barrios, also in “Carmina y amén”.

A special mention for the screenplay goes to “Monument to Michael Jackson” by Darko Lungulov, a film that mixes satire and the typical humor of the Balkans.

The jury was presided over by Giovanni Veronesi and composed of Claude Zidi, Lee Marshall, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Yllka Mujo, and Lina Wertmüller as the Honorary President of the Artistic Committee.
