Do you have a Rock n’ Roll spirit within you? Do you want to ride its “era”? Then we invite you to join us on March 23 at 2 PM for an intimate mini concert at the Fnac in Nice with this artist with a “Big A”.
Then on April 4, it’s off to the Nikaïa! Yes, Pascal Mono will be at the Nikaïa! Singing in his hometown in a large venue, this artist who knows the pubs of Old Nice by heart! A dream come true!
In the meantime, Pascal Mono has shared some details with Flora, our special correspondent.
Flora: Hello Pascal. Staying loyal to the interviews of Nice Première, you grant us a new one to talk about your upcoming dates in Nice. The one to absolutely remember is April 4th at the Nikaïa.
Can you tell us about it, will you be with your musicians?
Pascal Mono: Yes, the same ones as in Paris…
Flora: How does it feel to play your album, your compositions, your lyrics in front of your hometown audience? Any particular emotion?
P.M.: Of course, I will recognize many faces; this date is very special to me… It’s my hometown… Ironically, I’ve toured Europe, lived 10 years in Paris, but it was back here that I was noticed in a bar by Universal-Endemol-TF1! Anyway, my roots are here, in the pubs, in front of people who weren’t obligated to like it, and who have supported me for quite some time now…I earned my first paycheck in Old Nice when I was 17…
Flora: Any surprises reserved for the people of Nice at this concert? Cover songs you often played in the pubs, compositions not on the album? We want to know everything.
P.M.: There are some, but if I tell you which, they won’t be a surprise anymore!
Flora: You will also be appearing in a showcase at Fnac in Nice on March 23rd to warm up the vocal cords… Guitar/vocals for this date?
P.M.: Yes, a few songs acoustically, “unplugged”, I love it!
Flora: What type of stage makes you vibrate more, large venues with bass, drums, light shows, or small intimate venues unplugged?
P.M.: They are two very different things, and I like both setups, but of course, the intimate aspect has something extra. I’m a fan of Jeff Buckley and loved his solo performances. With the band, there are more constraints, but at the same time, the sharing with musicians is priceless.
Flora: You are already working on your second album. Isn’t the stage a good way to test the impact of your future tracks on the audience?
P.M.: Yes, of course, and I was able to see during the encore that “Au Bord de la Mer” worked well; it will therefore be on the next album… It’s great to feel when the audience immediately connects with a song, especially when it means a lot to you!
Flora: You also sing very well in English, will we be able to hear you in this language on the next album?
P.M.: There is already one track in English if you listened to the album all the way through; it’s what we call a “ghost track”, a hidden track that doesn’t appear on the cover, but if you let your player run, “Going to California” by Led Zeppelin starts; it’s a very stripped-down version, guitar-voice… It’s not excluded that there might be others later, I like this idea of giving more than what is initially planned!
(Flora continues inquiring about his new single and receives insightful answers from Pascal.)
