The first edition of the Festival of Gardens was a resounding success and helped showcase talents among creators from different backgrounds.
End of the line for an unprecedented Festival that took place over a month throughout the Department and saw incredible attendance.
From April 1st to 26th, the public could choose their favorite creation among the 10 ephemeral gardens set up in the most beautiful sites of the Alpes-Maritimes: Menton, Nice, Antibes, Cannes, and Grasse, through the Department 06 Facebook page or the dedicated website. In total, more than 5,200 people connected.
Eric Ciotti, president of the Department, presented the awards given by the public yesterday morning in Beaulieu-sur-Mer.
Two gardens enjoyed great success.
With 456 votes, the “Garden of the Sixth Extinction,” installed within the magnificent setting of the Villa Rothschild in Cannes, is the big winner. This space was created by architect David Simonson and engineer Jules Lefrere from Paris. It serves as an allegory of the relationship between the earth and humanity throughout history and questions the place of our sensitivity in an ever-changing environment.
With 443 votes, the “Dansité” garden, displayed at the Villa Fragonard in Grasse, comes in second place. This garden was created by the agency Mouvement et Paysages, from Le Lavandou. By offering a genuine pathway to the visitor, this space assumes the privileged role of promoting bodily and spiritual expression, where dance can flourish.
Given the success of this first edition, the Department wishes to renew this Festival and thus leave a verdant mark on the territory.
