Comprised of all the mayors and elected officials for Tourism of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, the Metropolitan Tourism Committee met for the first time outside of Nice, in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, this Thursday.
It was this Thursday that the first decentralized Metropolitan Tourism Committee took place in Saint-Laurent-du-Var. What is it about? What does it involve? Here’s an explanation.
A 2014 law mandates the transfer of the “tourism promotion” competence and thus the creation of a metropolitan tourism office. It took more than four years to implement this project.
Now, before each management committee of the new Metropolitan Tourism Office, there will be a Metropolitan Tourism Committee. “The aim is to initiate a place of debate where each mayor draws the tourism office’s attention to the specificities of their municipality” – explains Rudy Salles.
Comprised of all the mayors and elected officials for Tourism of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, this Metropolitan Tourism Committee met for the first time outside of Nice, in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, this Thursday. Several other meetings will be relocated afterward, with the aim of discussing the territory’s tourism strategy, as close as possible to each Mayor of the Metropolis.
“To give you a concrete example” begins Rudy Salles with a smile “The Mayor of Bairols is fighting to save the village’s historic inn. A magnificent dungeon with a sweeping view over the Metropolis. Until now, he was alone and desperate. Now he is part of the metropolitan office. We work daily to connect the territories. With all the Mayors of the Metropolis, we are developing a common strategy to promote our destination” explains the Deputy Mayor of Nice.
“This allows my municipality to now be on American or Chinese tour operators” concludes Joseph Ségura, Mayor of Saint-Laurent-du-Var.
So, full speed ahead!
