In cooperation with the Castello di Rivoli (Turin), one of Italy’s largest contemporary art museums, the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (NMNM) is offering a major exhibition dedicated to the German artist Thomas Schütte.
Thomas Schütte, born in Oldenburg (Germany) in 1954, is among the greatest contemporary sculptors; however, retrospectives of the scale offered by NMNM and the Castello di Rivoli are rare.
Launched at the end of May, the first part of this exhibition, “Frauen” (Women), allows the public to discover 18 monumental sculptures of women’s bodies and about fifty watercolors in the famous “Manica Lunga” of the Rivoli castle.
The second part of the exhibition will be installed in Villa Paloma, Monaco, from July 7 to November 11: Thomas Schütte will unveil his 20 “One Man Houses,” an architectural project of individual houses, consisting of 1/10th scale wooden models.
