Drap turns into a crime fiction territory for the weekend.

Latest News

This weekend, the Paillon Valley will transform into a temple of crime fiction in all its forms, from literary to cinematic, for the greatest delight of fans of the genre. Renowned authors, directors, illustrators, and many other artists await you starting Saturday, February 2nd from 2 PM until Sunday at 5 PM.

polar-drap-2.jpg Sylvie Cohen, Karine Giebal, Patrick Raynal, Jean-Bernard Pouy, and many other crime fiction authors will be present in the all-new Jean Ferrat Space to sign their books and also to take the time for a friendly chat about this common passion.

With patron Caryl Ferey, author of “Mapuche” and recently elected best crime novel of 2012 by “Lire” Magazine, the 2013 edition of “Polar à Drap” promises to be an excellent vintage as announced by one of its creators, Karin Fricero, Director of the Culture Service of the city of Drap: “As we initiated in our last editions, all forms of expression will be highlighted around crime fiction: music, visual arts, cinema, etc. The youth will also be in the forefront, with school initiatives and activities for children. Each form of expression represents a strong point since it contributes to meetings, exchanges, and discoveries between the public and participants. Everything is in place to experience a great moment of sharing and friendliness.”

Artistic encounters, round tables, face-to-face meetings between authors, the screening of the 2013 Short Film competition selection for the SNCF crime award, or the activities of the Youth Space—there will be something for everyone and all ages in a fair that embraces a new dimension every year, as stated by Marc Morini, Mayor of Drap: “For a long time, French crime novels centered around a very Parisian axis, but now our authors are casting their eyes all over the world. All the enthusiasts know: with crime fiction, we are dealing with literature that dives deep into social reality, rooted in places where ordinary people live—and sometimes die, as that’s the law of the genre. These places constitute the ‘Territories of Crime Fiction,’ which we have made the theme of the 2013 edition of ‘Polar à Drap.’”

As you can see, there are countless good reasons inviting you to stroll over the weekend in Drap to discover or rediscover a literary genre that not only has not lost its soul but has adapted to keep its aficionados and also conquer a new audience.
