The “Phénoménal Handball” tour made a stop in Nice, nine months before the opening of the Men’s World Handball Championship in France. The goal is to promote the event in a fun way, introducing the sport through various games and activities.
In January next year, France will host the 25th Men’s World Handball Championship.
To inform and engage the public, the Organizing Committee has set up a major tour that will travel throughout the country, in the form of a traveling village dedicated to the playful discovery of handball and the dissemination of practical information about the 2017 World Championship.
This 1,500 m² traveling village set up on Quai des États-Unis, despite the rather strong wind, featured activities offered by the Côte d’Azur league, the most spectacular of which was the “Phénoménal Shot”: scoring a goal against an automated goalie by using a trampoline to leap over life-sized defenders!
Another successful activity was an original photo booth, allowing participants to step into the shoes of a handball player and be photographed in unique scenes.
Rok and Koolette, the two mascots of the World Championship, welcomed notable figures such as Cléopâtre Darleux and Alexandra Lacrabére, Béatrice Edwige, players from OGC Nice and members of the French women’s team, and Adrien Dipanda, a player from Saint-Raphaël and a member of the men’s team.
