Municipales2020: Former allies of the Nice left settle their scores

Latest News

Struck deeply by the spoken and unspoken comments following his presence – along with Marc Concas – on the “openness” list of Christian Estrosi, Patrick Mottard … explains himself.

After recounting the history of the “united left” option’s failure and the lack of renewal in the political personnel – Patrick Mottard and Marc Concas asked themselves … what to do?

We leave the rest to the words of Patrick Mottard (though Marc Concas might agree with them).

However, as committed left-wing republicans, there was no question that our ideas and proposals should be absent from the municipal debate. This is why, in the following weeks, we regularly published them with the intent of possibly integrating them into one of the programs offered to voters.

To our great surprise, only the outgoing mayor reacted to these proposals, agreeing to discuss them. In a respect for each person’s political identity, a dialogue was initiated.

As a result of this dialogue, we were offered:

  1. to participate in a gathering list with no political label,
  2. to incorporate a significant part of our proposals into the list’s program (in my case, it will be the relocation of the TNN, the theater and live performance, heritage, democratization of culture),
  3. to be provided the political means to implement them.

All of this while maintaining, beyond the rightly protected municipal action, our national commitments (I am a member of the PRG, a center-left party currently in opposition).

The choice was between watching the institutional left’s ruins in Nice for six more years or trying to act by choosing something concrete. We responsibly chose the latter.

Hence this text, which is an explanation and not a justification.
