This Tuesday, life can resume its course in seaside establishments. The public beaches were already accessible since the first deconfinement in a dynamic fashion, meaning, for the superior intelligence who invented it, without stopping but by walking or swimming.
Happy is the one who has experienced a “dynamic” spaceman; as for us, we only saw people lying down, in groups, sometimes in a circle to drink a can or have a picnic. Well, starting today, all that is in the past.
The beachgoers will have to observe health and safety guidelines with the deckchairs at a safe distance from each other, their sanitization, and the management of flow to avoid contacts between customers. The same will apply to catering.*
The start will certainly be timid, the absence of tourists at least until June 15 will allow for the measurement of the effectiveness of the organization and make the necessary adjustments.
Will all the beaches open this morning? Certainly not, since some have not yet completed the installation work. Others may prefer to wait until the season gets a little more underway before taking on the cost of staff, which is currently covered by the state.
The season looks difficult, there are questions to which no one can provide answers, but the general sentiment is that the best is to start again, otherwise…
The beach concessionaires, who will have fewer spaces to exploit for the clientele, had asked the Metropolis for an extension of the area allocated to them. Their request had been provisionally accepted before an “ideological” controversy erupted between the defenders of economic interests and those of free beach access.
In short, it had become a social divide over sunbathing! To avoid further complications in this matter, the Metropolis did not follow up on this request, to the detriment of the beach managers, who will find it more difficult to balance the operating accounts this season.
It remains to be seen whether these same establishments will not help themselves by encroaching on spaces here and there.
To facilitate the return of customers by ensuring that the seaside establishments comply with health and safety standards, the City Hall of Nice has established the Health Confidence Label, which has already been awarded to more than 300 businesses.
Ruhl Plage is the first beach restaurant to receive this label, which must be displayed at the front and inside the businesses.
