The former Gym forward has officially been inducted into this new position, replacing Julien Sablé.
With Sablé‘s promotion to assistant coach of the first team, OGC Nice’s reserves once again found themselves without a head coach. To take over from Sablé, Fabrice Ghisolfi decided to continue the strategy applied since his arrival: trusting former Gym players. His choice then fell on Marama Vahirua, who until now was the assistant coach of the U17 team.
“By appointing Marama as the reserve team coach, we are choosing competence and continuity… He knows every player at his disposal inside out, which is essential for taking on the sporting challenge of the second half of the season. He will not need any adaptation time, as he possesses the ‘club vision,’ the experience, and as a former player, he naturally imparts the values of OGC Nice to the young players, both in terms of gameplay and mentality. He is the ideal person for this key position. We have complete confidence in him, and in terms of the club’s dynamics, we are pleased that he is taking this new step with us.”
Having played for Nice between 2004 and 2007, the man still nicknamed “Tahiti Goal” participated in 111 matches, scoring a total of 23 goals and providing 9 assists. The former Nice striker returned to the club by joining the training center in 2020.
