The immersive journey set up at the port of Nice is interrupted following a technical incident. Visitors who already have tickets can postpone their visit or request a refund.

The immersive exhibition L’Océan de Léa has been forced to interrupt its public visits. Installed in the new OceaNice Convention Center located at the port of Nice, it is scheduled to welcome the public all summer and until September 14, 2025. A technical incident required an immediate closure. The provider responsible for the installation has been tasked with conducting inspections and restarting the system. The duration of the interruption should not exceed a few days.

For the public, options for postponement and refund are available. Tickets already purchased do not bear a specific date and will remain valid until September 14, 2025. Those who cannot postpone their visit can request a refund. Requests should be sent by email to: administration@nicecotedazurtourisme.com at the Metropolitan Tourist Office, accompanied by the ticket and a bank account statement.

An Artistic and Ecological Dive

The exhibition opened its doors on July 12 and had already welcomed more than 6,000 visitors before this suspension. It offers an immersion into a marine world designed by artist Junior Fritz Jacquet. A master in the art of folding and paper sculpture, he has been exhibiting around the world for two decades. His works here take the form of manta rays, jellyfish, schools of fish, and seaweed. The journey places the spectator in an aquatic ambiance, with sound and lighting that transform the event hall into a subaquatic setting.

The artist describes his work on this exhibition L’Océan de Léa as a symbol of the passage of time, resilience, and beauty in a fantastical and fairy-tale-like environment. Beyond the poetry, the installation is part of the Year of the Sea, which marked the beginning of the summer period in Nice. It invites reflection on the issues related to ocean preservation and climate change. The event is supported by the Maud Fontenoy Foundation and sailor Yvan Bourgnon.

A New Space for Niçoise Culture

The OceaNice Center was inaugurated on April 30. Built in record time on the site of the former port dam parking, it now serves as a major tool for hosting international and local events with its 10,600 m² surface. The building includes a large modular hall, meeting rooms, and an area intended for a maritime station. The Metropolitan Tourist Office manages it.

From its opening, the site hosted the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Oceans. More than 130 delegations participated, including around fifty heads of state and government. Junior Fritz Jacquet’s exhibition is the first major public cultural event organized within these walls. The Metropolis and the city of Nice hope to establish this new location in the summer calendar by offering an artistic and civic meeting every summer. More than 80 events are already scheduled.

Practical Information

L’Océan de Léa is accessible to all audiences. The entrance fee is 5 euros, free for children under four. Tickets can be purchased online or directly at OceaNice’s counters, only by card. The exhibition is also included in the French Riviera Pass. A shop offers Niçoise products and creations derived from the artist.

Opening hours are as follows: Sunday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Upon reopening, the exhibition will be visible until September 14, 2025.

We just have to wait for the reopening!
