Literary Café: The Ultimate Secret of Christ by José Rodrigues dos Santos

Latest News

At the beginning of reading this novel, one might be captivated by the debates on the contradictions of the gospels, but is frankly disappointed by the end of the book where the implausible, even the incoherence, reveals a Jesus who supposedly died and whose tomb was found with his entire family. We already had the gospel of Saint Mary Magdalene; here we are sinking into grand guignol.

It’s really a shame, because the explanations on the New Testament and its numerous connections to the Old Testament were interesting from a theological perspective. The contradictions highlighted between the gospels, the letters of the apostles, held some interest and opened up new perspectives for a better understanding of the sacred texts.

This novel, where the detective intrigue draws us in with passion, could have ended without this astonishing conclusion about a DNA study of Jesus, Joseph, Mary, and his family. The author only makes gratuitous assumptions without any real foundation.

The ultimate secret of Christ could have, with a more plausible ending, been a magnificent tool to better understand and approach the reading of the Bible and sacred texts with the Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic roots of the scriptures.
