The Health 2021 call for projects was launched yesterday at a press conference, providing an opportunity to reward the 2020 winners of this project, initiated in 2008 by Deputy Eric Ciotti.
This “adventure,” as expressed by Charles Ange Ginรฉsy, highlights the health projects of the department. Bringing remarkable projects to light, utilizing technology and digital means, was the message that the president of the Alpes-Maritimes departmental council wanted to convey. The results are significant, with nearly 33 million euros granted by the Alpes-Maritimes department for 254 projects. Thirty medical institutions, such as the Nice University Hospital, CNRS, and UNS were thanked for supporting the researchers.
The health crisis has made this policy even more relevant, although we wish it did not exist, it nonetheless strengthens the commitment to helping people. The nine winners (7+2) received their prizes, and four additional winners were awarded for their projects specifically dedicated to the health crisis.
Clara Ducord, General Director of the PACA cancer center, stated that “it was a great joy to participate in this unique call for projects,” indicating that it is a real opportunity for researchers.
Later, Charles Ange Ginรฉsy mentioned that the budget allocated for the 2021 call for projects would be significant, with over two million euros to be spent. Two million euros spread across five themes: cancer, neurodegenerative diseases (disability and loss of autonomy), E-health and artificial intelligence, the impact of the environment on health, and a final theme on applied research in infectiology-epidemiology and clinical studies.
Eric Ciotti concluded the conference by explaining that it is an important moment to award a prize to those who sometimes spent several years researching a project.
