The 4th day of the Synerglace Ligue Magnus was challenging for the Nice Eagles, who never managed to hold their own against their opponents.
With only one win in five matches, the start of the championship is proving difficult for the Eagles. It must be said that the teams they faced were formidable, like Rouen last Sunday. However, unlike previous matches, the Niçois never really troubled the Angers Ducs.
This was confirmed early in the game with Peter Valier opening the score in the 2nd minute.
Stunned, Nice struggled to create opportunities and couldn’t unsettle the Angevins. With 17 shots for Angers in the first period, compared to only four for the Eagles, it made sense for the Ducs to score a second goal through Parker Colley (15’). At the break, Angers was logically leading (2-0).
Angers definitively secures the lead
Similar to the first period, Nice started the second period poorly and paid dearly for it. Peter Valier scored a brace, pushing the score to (3-0). The match then seemed out of reach. Angers eased off a little, allowing Nice to create some chances. The game became more balanced, but a comeback from the Eagles seemed unlikely.
Finally, late in the game, Jules Lefebvre (14’) saved the Azuréens’ pride by scoring a goal. However, it was the Ducs who sealed the score thanks to Brady Shaw (18’), bringing the final score to (4-1). A logical victory for Angers against a Nice team probably tired by the series of matches.
The Eagles will need to bounce back quickly, with an upcoming match at the Jean-Bouin ice rink against the leader, Amiens. Another formidable opponent they will have to overcome to avoid finding themselves in a tricky position in the standings. The kickoff is scheduled for this Friday at 8 PM.
