This Saturday, OGC Nice travels to the Stade Brestois for the 5th day of Ligue 1. Before the start of the Europa League, the Gym can secure a second consecutive victory in the championship, a first this season. All the match information can be found here.
OGC Nice showed a completely different side! To the great delight of their supporters, the Eaglets found their way back to success last weekend against Nantes (1-0). While the score might suggest a close match, this was not the case at all. Without a heroic opposing goalkeeper, Kevin Carlos’s teammates could have added two or three more goals to the scoreboard. After two weeks of training, the Gym may have finally kickstarted their 2025/26 season after a more than hesitant start (two defeats in the first three days of Ligue 1).
OGC Nice seeks regularity to continue climbing up the Ligue 1 standings. Franck Haise’s men have been sorely lacking this since the start of the season, alternating between good and bad performances, both collectively and individually. This weekend’s path to victory will be through another win at Stade Brestois (kick-off on Saturday at 9 PM).
Dante’s Relapse
This is the bad news of the week for OGC Nice. Still struggling with his knee, Dante has to withdraw from this match, just a week after returning to the field. “We will have a day-to-day management with him. We know this will be part of his season. We will ensure the break is as short as possible so that he can be with us in the coming weeks,” explained Franck Haise in a press conference about his situation. Once again, the Gym will have to do without their captain and defensive leader.
As in previous weeks, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Youssouf Ndayishimiye, Ali Abdi, and Tanguy Ndombele remain in the infirmary. However, Mohamed-Ali Cho and Moïse Bombito could be considered for a spot in the Nice squad. The two Eaglets, recovered from their physical issues, could be key reinforcements for Franck Haise. It is worth remembering that neither player has played an official minute since the season’s start.
On the other hand, Stade Brestois is having a poor, even catastrophic, start to the season. After four days of Ligue 1, the Bretons, not helped by a complicated summer transfer window, find themselves in a worrying 17th place in the standings. Éric Roy‘s men have not yet won a single match this season. The Pirates are the only team in this situation in L1, along with FC Metz.
Probable Lineups:
Brest: Coudert – Lala, Chardonnet, Diaz, Locko – Doumbia, Chotard, Dina Ebimbe – Del Castillo, Ajorque, Mboup
Nice: Diouf – Mendy (or Bombito), Bah, Oppong – Clauss, Vanhoutte, Boudaoui, Bard – Diop, Carlos, Boga.
