The exhibition “1917: Nice the American” will be held from March 1 to September 28 at the Nice Côte d’Azur Archives Service “Palais de Marbre”, 7/9, avenue de Fabron.
It has been awarded the National Label from the Mission du Centenaire de la Première Guerre Mondiale and the Label from the American Commission of the Centennial (WWICC).
This mark of recognition highlights the exemplary nature of the centennial commemorations of the First World War organized by the City of Nice, which are not limited to the year 2014 but accompany the duration of the war, up to the commemoration of the centenary of the armistice in November 2018.
Under the title “1917: Nice the American,” the exhibition will show the impact of the American presence in Nice, from 1787 (Jefferson’s journey) to the eve of the Second World War, on tourism, leisure, the arts, and charitable works. It will be accompanied by a bilingual catalog.
It will involve the Nice Côte d’Azur Archives Service (exhibition, conference, educational workshops, jazzy musical activities), the Historical Heritage Service (urban walk “Swing and Red Cross” following in the footsteps of Americans in Nice), and the Nice Cinematheque (American film cycle).
